Who are the top traders on Hyperliquid?
12 min read
By the Totalis team. We build the combo platform for prediction markets on Hyperliquid.
The top traders on Hyperliquid are mostly anonymous wallet addresses. Hyperliquid ranks them on its own leaderboard in the Hyperliquid app, by profit and loss (PnL) over 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days or all time. On 2 November 2026 the 30-day leader was the address shown as 0x5b5d...c060, up $123.2 million. The traders the press calls Hyperliquid whales, such as James Wynn and Machi Big Brother, are famous mostly for very large leveraged positions and very large liquidations. Every Hyperliquid account is public by address, so you can follow any of them. Copying them carries the same liquidation and leverage risk they took.

Where is the Hyperliquid leaderboard?#
The official Hyperliquid leaderboard is a page in the Hyperliquid app at app.hyperliquid.xyz/leaderboard. It needs JavaScript, so it shows nothing in a plain web fetch. We read it in a browser on 2 November 2026 at about 21:30 UTC.
The page has one table with six columns: Rank, Trader, Account Value, PNL, ROI and Volume. A dropdown sets the window to 24h, 7D, 30D or All-time, and it starts on 30D. You can sort by any of the four number columns, and a search box takes a wallet address. Clicking a row opens that account's page in the Hyperliquid explorer, at app.hyperliquid.xyz/explorer/address/ followed by the full address.
Two lines under the table define what you are looking at:
- "Excludes accounts with less than 100k USDC account value and less than 10M USDC trading volume."
- "ROI = PNL / max(100, starting account value + maximum net deposits) for the time window."
On 2 November 2026 the table counted 48,124 accounts. The Trader column shows a short address, such as 0x5b5d...c060, unless the account has a display name. The leaderboard does not say who controls an account or what strategy it runs.
Hyperliquid leaderboard snapshot, 2 November 2026#
These tables record the Hyperliquid leaderboard as it read on 2 November 2026. They are a dated snapshot, not today's ranking. Addresses and names appear exactly as the page showed them, and figures are rounded US dollars.
Top 5 by 30-day PnL#
| Rank | Trader | PnL (30D) | Volume (30D) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 0x5b5d...c060 | $123.2M | $283.3M |
| 2 | 0xb83d...6e36 | $103.0M | $575.8M |
| 3 | 0x659d...9d63 | $50.8M | $0 |
| 4 | 0x87f9...e2cf | $30.7M | $21.2B |
| 5 | BobbyBigSize | $28.7M | $2.3B |
The leader's account value was $218.6 million, for a 30-day ROI of 63.43%. Rank 3 showed a 556.22% ROI with no volume at all. Ranks 6 to 10 (0xecb6...2b00, 0xb695...a92d, 0xfc66...ca06, 0x45d2...4029 and 0xfc27...9d9d) each made between $19.9 million and $22.7 million.
PnL leaders in the other windows#
| Window | Rank 1 | PnL |
|---|---|---|
| 24h | 0x5b5d...c060 | $11.7M |
| 7D | 0x393d...2109 | $45.5M |
| All-time | 0x4ec8...9a80 | $445.0M |
Second and third were 0xb83d...6e36 ($10.0M) and BobbyBigSize ($4.3M) over 24 hours, 0x5b5d...c060 ($35.4M) and 0xb83d...6e36 ($26.0M) over 7 days, and 0x393d...2109 ($427.4M) and 0x5b5d...c060 ($227.1M) all-time.
Top 5 by trading volume#
| Rank | 30 days | All-time |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 0xf5d8...ad53, $36.0B | ABC, $722.4B |
| 2 | 0x85ec...2052, $34.0B | 0x87f9...e2cf, $623.0B |
| 3 | 0x3999...3336, $25.5B | 0xff4c...463c, $324.9B |
| 4 | 0x8c62...c974, $22.1B | 0xecb6...2b00, $318.0B |
| 5 | 0x87f9...e2cf, $21.2B | 0x7839...9916, $292.7B |
A few accounts recur across windows. 0x5b5d...c060 and 0xb83d...6e36 sat in the top three by PnL for 24h and 7D, and in the top five all-time. 0x87f9...e2cf and 0xecb6...2b00 appear on both the PnL and the volume lists. The second-largest 30-day volume account, 0x85ec...2052, showed a 30-day PnL of -$5,046,341.38, so a high volume rank says nothing about profit. These figures change every day. Check the live page before relying on any of them.
What does "top" mean on the Hyperliquid leaderboard?#
"Top trader" means a different thing on each column of the Hyperliquid leaderboard, and the window changes the answer again.
| Measure | What it shows | What it hides |
|---|---|---|
| PnL | Dollars gained or lost in the window | Favours big accounts. $1 million is 0.5% for a $200 million account |
| ROI | PnL divided by max(100, starting account value + maximum net deposits) | A tiny starting balance inflates it. The all-time PnL leader showed an ROI of 2,641,203.96% |
| Volume | Notional traded in the window | Profit. Volume leaders can be losing money |
| Account value | Current equity | Whether the money came from trading or deposits |
The 2 November 2026 snapshot shows four traps:
- PnL without trading. Several top PnL accounts showed $0.00 volume in the same window. On the 7D list, ranks 1, 4, 6, 7 and 8 all had zero 7-day volume. The leaderboard does not break PnL down by source, so a high rank does not tell you the account made its gain by trading in that window.
- Winners on top. The leaderboard filters accounts by size and volume, not by profit, so losing accounts are on it too. Sorted by PnL, though, the first page shows the biggest recent winners, and losers sit further down. Accounts that blew up and fell below the size and volume cut drop off entirely. The all-time top 10 included accounts with $4.45 and $3,571.44 of account value left, which shows only that the money has left those accounts, not why.
- Short windows. A 24-hour leader can be one lucky trade. Two accounts held top-three places in both the 24h and 7D lists on 2 November 2026; most others did not.
- Volume is not skill. Very high volume with modest PnL fits market makers, who trade both sides for small margins. That is our inference from the numbers. The leaderboard does not label strategies.
Who are the biggest Hyperliquid whales?#
The traders most often called Hyperliquid whales are known through press coverage of very large positions, and most of that coverage is about losses. The table below lists widely reported cases. Each figure comes from the source in its row. Hyperliquid has not confirmed who is behind any of these accounts.
| Date | Account as reported | What was reported | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12 March 2025 | 0xf3f4 (unnamed) | Hyperliquid said the user withdrew unrealized PnL from a large ETH long, which lowered the margin, and the position was liquidated. The user ended with about $1.8 million of PnL. HLP, Hyperliquid's protocol vault, lost about $4 million over 24 hours | Hyperliquid on X, 12 March 2025 |
| May 2025 | "James Wynn" | Reported by DL News: a bitcoin long worth over $1 billion at 40x leverage, then two liquidations totalling 949 BTC, about $100 million. A trader who took the opposite side of each of his trades was up about $17 million that week | DL News, 30 May 2025 |
| October 2025 | 0xb317 (unnamed) | Reported by Cointelegraph: made $192 million shorting bitcoin minutes before a US tariff announcement, then opened a new $163 million bitcoin short | Cointelegraph, 13 October 2025 |
| 15 October 2026 | "Machi Big Brother" | Reported by crypto.news, citing Lookonchain: an account built from $56,000 to $12.25 million in four months was fully liquidated, leaving about $21,800 | crypto.news, 15 October 2026 |
None of these names appeared in the top 10 of any PnL window on 2 November 2026. The accounts at the top of the leaderboard that day were short addresses that these reports do not name.
Hyperliquid vault performance: the ranking for pooled money#
A vault is the only built-in way on Hyperliquid to put your money behind someone else's trading. You deposit USDC, the vault leader trades it, and you share the PnL. Legacy user vault leaders keep 10% of profits (vault depositors docs). The Hyperliquid vaults page doubles as a vault leaderboard.
On 2 November 2026 the six largest user vaults by TVL on the Hyperliquid vaults page were:
| Vault | APR | TVL |
|---|---|---|
| Growi HF | -0.69% | $13.1M |
| [ Systemic Strategies ] L/S Grids | 37.80% | $11.2M |
| drkmttr | -28.01% | $8.2M |
| DOUBLETOP Vault | -10.36% | $6.7M |
| [ Systemic Strategies ] HyperGrowth | 225.56% | $6.3M |
| BredoStrategy | -32.80% | $5.1M |
Four of the six largest showed a negative APR that day. Both Systemic Strategies vaults had the same leader, 0x2b80...6f4b. The same page showed HLP, the protocol vault, at $155,025,558 TVL and -0.11% APR, out of $246,874,672 across all vaults. APR here is a trailing figure, not a promised rate. For lockups, fees, HLP's losses and how to judge a vault's drawdown, read Hyperliquid vaults and HLP explained.
How can I follow a Hyperliquid trader?#
Every Hyperliquid account is an address, and its positions, orders, fills and transfers are public. There is no profile name to search for and no identity check behind it. For what that means for sign-up and regulation, see whether Hyperliquid requires KYC.
Four ways to follow an address:
- Hyperliquid explorer. The official Hyperliquid explorer shows an address's transactions. Leaderboard rows link straight to it.
- Third-party explorers and trackers. Hypurrscan is a community explorer for HyperCore. HyperDash and HyperTracker track positions and PnL by wallet. They are independent of Hyperliquid and compute figures their own way, so their numbers may not match the official leaderboard.
- Vaults. Depositing in a vault puts your money in the leader's trades, with the leader's 10% profit share and a lockup.
- The API. Hyperliquid's documented info endpoint returns account data for any address.
Is there a Hyperliquid leaderboard API?#
Hyperliquid's API documentation lists no leaderboard request type. As of 2 November 2026, the info endpoint docs describe requests that each take one address. To rank traders yourself, you need the addresses first, then you query them one by one.
The requests that matter for following a trader:
Request type | Returns | Docs |
|---|---|---|
clearinghouseState | Open perp positions and margin summary | Perpetuals info endpoint |
userFills | Up to the 2,000 most recent fills | Info endpoint |
portfolio | Account value history, PnL history and volume for day, week, month and allTime, plus perp-only versions | Info endpoint |
openOrders | Resting orders | Info endpoint |
vaultDetails | A vault's leader, followers, APR and PnL history | Info endpoint |
The portfolio windows (day, week, month, allTime) cover the same ground as the leaderboard's columns for a single address. The docs also warn that querying an agent wallet's address returns an empty result. You must pass the master account or sub-account address.
Public access has limits. Per IP, REST requests share a weight of 1,200 per minute; clearinghouseState weighs 2 and most other info requests weigh 20. Websocket subscriptions can follow at most 10 unique users at once (rate limits and user limits). For keys, websockets and SDKs, read the Hyperliquid API guide.
Polling also lags: inside those limits, each poll of a trader's address returns a snapshot that is already out of date. Totalis, which publishes this guide, runs its own Hyperliquid node and records order statuses from the node's block stream rather than polling the info endpoint.
What are the risks of copying top Hyperliquid traders?#
Copying a Hyperliquid trader means taking their risk later, at a different price, often with less margin.
- Liquidation. A position is liquidated when account equity falls below maintenance margin, which is half the initial margin at max leverage: between 1.25% for 40x assets and 16.7% for 3x assets (Hyperliquid liquidations). If the backstop liquidator takes over a position, you lose the maintenance margin too.
- Auto-deleveraging (ADL). When an account on the other side goes negative, Hyperliquid closes profitable positions ranked by
(mark_price / entry_price) * (notional_position / account_value)(Hyperliquid auto-deleveraging). Winning, highly leveraged positions go first. Those are often the trades people want to copy. - Leverage mismatch. A whale at 40x with other collateral elsewhere is not the same trade as your account at 40x with nothing behind it.
- Delay. Public data shows a fill after it happens. You enter later, at a different price, and trackers refresh on their own schedule.
- Missing context. An address may be one leg of a hedge held on another venue or account. You see one side.
- Survivorship. You pick from a list of recent winners. The DL News and crypto.news reports above show how fast a public winning streak can reverse.
Fees also add up when you trade often. See every fee on Hyperliquid.
Taking the other side instead#
Some apps let you be the counterparty rather than the copier. A Combo is one position on 2 to 5 HIP-4 outcome markets. In the Totalis app, the other side of every Combo is a market maker, and any account can become one. The Totalis market making guide shows the flow, and how makers back a Combo explains the collateral a maker locks. Totalis publishes no ranking of its traders or makers. For the markets themselves, read HIP-4 outcome markets explained, and for how Combos differ from sportsbook parlays, see Combos vs parlays.
Frequently asked questions#
Who is the biggest whale on Hyperliquid?#
Hyperliquid does not publish one. By account value, the largest account in the 2 November 2026 top-10 lists was 0x393d...2109 at $841.7 million. The traders the press calls whales, such as James Wynn and Machi Big Brother, are known mostly for large leveraged positions and liquidations.
Can I copy trade on Hyperliquid?#
Hyperliquid has no built-in copy trading. Vaults let you deposit with a leader who trades for you and keeps 10% of profits. Anything else means following a public address yourself or through a third-party tool, at your own risk.
